Post Baby Weight - CBS Local

Audrey Asistio

Audrey Asistio is grateful to be part of the CBS13 news team! 'I'm...

Despite going to intense spin classes during my pregnancy, I still managed to gain a whopping 45 pounds! That's a good 10 pounds more than my doctor recommended. Nearly 6 months after giving birth, I am now lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight!

The photo at the top left was taken the day I gave birth to Maisyn Belle. The photo on the right is a recent screen shot of me during a news report.

Here's how I lost all the weight-

Two weeks post pregnancy, I lost about half the weight. I'm guessing a lot of it was water weight. Once I got the 'okay' from my doctor to work out again, I went at it. That was about 6 weeks after giving birth.

I bought the Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide and followed the plan... kind of. I found the 12 week exercise plan on Instagram. It caught my attention because the workouts only took about 30-45 minutes and the before and after pictures looked amazing. I only followed it for about 2 months (I got lazy), but I still lost a lot of weight. By the time I stopped, I was only 7 pounds away from my pre-pregnancy weight.

I haven't worked out since (I'm still learning how to manage my mommy time better) but I've still managed to lose the rest of the weight and some, by breastfeeding and eating better. I think most of my weight loss was thanks to breastfeeding, but I also try to follow great tips I got from reading The EveryGirl's Guide to Diet and Fitness by Maria Menounos. Here's a rundown of what I usually eat throughout the day-

Breakfast: A smoothie made with spinach, strawberries, 1/2 a banana, protein powder & almond milk and a cup of coffee w/ sugar and hazelnut creamer.

Morning Snack: A handful of almonds, fruit and hot water

Lunch: Chicken breast/Salmon, brown rice and mixed veggies

Afternoon Snack: Fruit, a Quest Bar and hot water

Dinner: Ground Turkey/Salmon, brown rice and mixed veggies

Evening Snack: A cup of green tea ice cream

Happy Monday friends! Hope you have a fantastic Thanksgiving week! :)

I plan on working out again soon to stay healthy and tone up.

xoxo,

Audrey
